






About Us
Rwenzori Farmers Marketing Cooperative Society LTD which is abbreviated as RWEFAMACOS is a legal entity registered by the registrar of cooperatives on 12/12/2012 under the Uganda cooperative act 112 in Uganda with registration number 10105/RCS. In 2015, the Cooperative became Fairtrade certified.
It is situated in Kyarumba Town Council in Kasese district and deals in production and processing of Cotton as its main commercial enterprise and coffee. It was formed as an association of farmers who had their children in the community schools in the hard-to-reach areas of the Rwenzori mountains (‘’Mountains of the Moon”) in Kasese district, western Uganda.

To empower and uplift farmers in the Rwenzori region through sustainable agriculture, collective marketing, value addition, and access to competitive markets, ensuring improved livelihoods and economic resilience for all our members.

To be a leading, innovative, and inclusive farmers’ cooperative in Uganda, recognized for transforming agriculture into a profitable and sustainable enterprise for current and future generations.

What We Do

Cotton Growing, Processing and Export
The organization receives Cotton seeds from the Cotton Development Organization on behalf of its members and delivers seeds to the members for planting. Cotton Development Organization is the government body responsible for the development of the cotton industry in Uganda.

Coffee Production, Processing, and Marketing Services
We train farmers on proper harvesting techniques, drying, and sorting to preserve bean quality and minimize post-harvest losses.

Briquettes Production Services
We train members and communities in the techniques of carbonization, briquette molding, drying, and storage for quality fuel products.

Handcraft Skills – Basket Weaving Services
We offer practical training in traditional and modern basket weaving techniques using locally available materials like raffia, banana fiber, and palm leaves.Women in their respective communities have been empowered in weaving baskets in and they always meet for savings once every week.

Sustainable Coffee Development Program
Market Access and Trade Facilitation Program: Builds connections between producers and buyers, facilitates certifications, branding, and participation in trade shows and fairs.

Community Development and Social Impact Program
Invests in community infrastructure, education, health awareness, and resilience-building initiatives for cooperative members.

Youth and Women in Agribusiness Program
Engages young people and women in agriculture, processing, and entrepreneurship to promote inclusion and leadership.

Climate Action Program
Promotes climate-smart agriculture, afforestation, sustainable land use, and clean energy adoption (e.g., briquettes) across the region.

Leadership Program
Strengthens the cooperative’s internal structures through training on transparency, democratic participation, and leadership skills.
